Sailing Instructions.
1. Yachts that get caught on the marina side of the course and need to be physically rescued are immediately declared as a DNF.
2 Buoy contacts WILL be penalised and require a 360 turn to exonerate the error.  The exception to this is the SE buoy which is considered too far to be rounded with accuracy because of the light and conditions in which we sail.  No penalty is required if contact is made with this buoy.  The buoy MUST be rounded correctly and all other rules apply at the mark.
3.  The scoring scheme has been slightly modified where there is a gradation of handicap changes for the first and last bunch of yachts removing the desire of skippers to hang back to avoid getting a handicap change.

8 yachts contested the sailing on Monday and considering the ideal conditions was down a little on expectations.  The day belonged to the Phantoms with Jeff and Ben carrying the flag.  At one stage it looked like a 1,2,3 for the Phantoms but issues overcame Don's charge.  Still there were at least two races where Phantoms came in 1,2 and 3.  Randy was the best of the IOMs sailing consistently all day and mostly finishing in the top half of the fleet.

An excellent fleet for a Friday with 10 yachts on the water.  Breezes near top of 'A' rig range for IOM's and those with 'B' rig suffered in the lighter spells.  Richard had control issues and nearly had a big chase across the river but it was diverted back to the jetty.  Welcome back Geoff!

Looked like a good day with an excellent fleet.  Jeff could only be happy with his DF95, Bob too!  Good to see the phantoms there as well.

Eleven sailors enjoyed some good fun racing in SSW of about eight knots, Phil had a good time sailing Richard's Hurricane, being a holiday, Cameron and Tony White joined us and Cameron, 7 years old sailed his IOM very well. Drinks and a chat after sailing as usual.

Strong westerly winds made exciting sailing with the results reflecting the closeness of the competition.  Roger and Peter may well be a little peeved as both had 5 wins whereas Ben only had two. This shows how important each race is and how a couple of places could make all the difference.  It looks like there will be a contingent sailing on Monday even though it is a public holiday and so will be a general sailing day.

Very close racing this afternoon, a port course with WSW wind at around 13 knots, a number of 360 penalties at each of the buoys due to the close racing. Being the last Monday of the month we had drinks and very nice food platters thanks to Lyn and Robo, the ladies joined us for a BYO  dinner which was great as usual. Richard's neighbours joined us to celebrate Marianne' birthday, a good time was had by all.

Only three sailors taking on the WNW wind gusting to 16 knots, sailing a starboard course and all boats with A rigs, the wind gusts made a very interesting run to the far buoy. The last race was sailed in about 4 knots and by the time we finished drinks the river was like glass, 23 races equaling the previous record.

Six keen sailors braving the very windy conditions, WSW gusting to about 30 knots, Dennis and Don with their 65s struggled as they were laying flat most of the time, the IOMs and HU looked like submarines, very interesting rounding the far buoy. The outboard got a good run with three rescues, according to a certain person who was not in the rescue boat claimed the crew required more training. Drinks, cheese and biscuits in the club after thanks to Lyn.

Welcome new members Don and Helen James Don had his RG 65 for a try out unfortunately a problem with main boom stopped him from racing. Good sailing in WNW wind around 13 knots, some heavier gusts making things a bit hairy at times. Richard tried to move the pontoon in one gust so DNF that race. Drinks and a chat in the bar afterwards as usual.
